A real theatrical extravaganza

Mundo Paralelo

National Theatre Wales / NoFit State , Milford Haven , March 11, 2011
Mundo Paralelo by National Theatre Wales / NoFit State QUESTION: Can a circus really be a circus if it’s not performed in a Big Top? Answer: If you’ve got the vision that Cardiff’s award-winning NoFit State Circus has, then yes it can.

For the first time in its 25-year history, the company is taking its work into a theatre.

Instead of a promenade-style show, which allows visitors to wander around the Big Top and see different acts at their leisure, audiences are treated to a real theatrical extravaganza that opens up on the stage before them.

But fans of the traditional circus will not be disappointed as all of the mind-blowing acts – from the high wire to jugglers – are incorporated into the performance. And those who have preconceptions of what a circus is all about will be pleasantly surprised.

Mundo Paralelo – a collaboration with National Theatre Wales – is dramatic right from the start as performers, wearing luminous headgear, dangle from the beams of the dimly-lit Torch Theatre in Milford Haven.

Directed by Mladen Materic from Serbia, the show features circus performers from all over the world who are masters at their game.
